A heavier linen / thicker material like a softer canvas would have been the best. Unhemmed. Then of course glazed bottom dishware and or milk glass and other things with smooth bases. If you did it with that material in this setup here you would have much more success.

Maybe if you attached a clasping spiral or something to the length of the side you were pulling, it might pull it in a more stable manner but I'm just guessing. edit: oh I think you had a bar or something there. I saw on consecutive watches.

Needs better technique, cloth should be pulled downwards to not allow the plates and glasses or anything on the table to be pulled very far
